Introducing Justyna Gałat – a handy lab EXPERT. ✋ A cosmetologist who creates individualized treatment therapies and strives to educate patients on the importance of a comprehensive approach to skincare, including hand care.
She often repeats that "the condition of our skin reflects the state of the body, which is why it's so important to take care of all ancillary aspects." 💆 In our shared series, Justyna will talk about holistic hand care and how to easily incorporate it into your life.

Hand care is an extremely important, yet often overlooked, element of a daily skincare routine. It's often tempting to say that most creams or active ingredients successfully used on the face or neck would work just as well for hand skin care. So why are these areas still so distinctly separated?
Below, I share my tips for improving the condition of our hands:
Ensure UV protection
UV radiation is one of the main sources of photoaging and pigmentation changes in the skin. Even if the tendency for discoloration is a matter of genetics, we can still delay or minimize the risk of its formation through proper UV protection. This applies particularly to people who regularly exfoliate their hand skin or use acids with phototoxic potential. The risk of increased skin photosensitivity can even rise when drinking certain herbal teas, such as St. John's Wort. It's worth keeping this in mind, especially in summer.

Regularly exfoliate dead skin, including with acids
Skin exfoliation is a great ally in the fight to improve skin condition, even out its tone, and reduce visible wrinkles. Regular removal of dead skin cells also positively affects the absorption of active ingredients from the creams and masks we use. It's no secret that there's nothing worse than well-groomed nails accompanied by dry and "frayed" cuticles.
For home remedies, a gentle scrub made of sugar with honey or olive oil will work wonderfully. Both products contain beneficial properties, which visibly restore the skin's radiance and smoothness.
Retinol – an anti-aging treatment for our hands
Is retinol an active ingredient intended only for use on the face? You probably hear this most often, but it's a substance with a much broader spectrum of action. Indeed, retinol shows excellent results in anti-aging treatments and in reducing discoloration. It also works perfectly in tandem with vitamin C, contributing to significant skin brightening and delaying the skin aging process. It's a powerful antioxidant duo that positively affects the cell renewal cycle. Regular use on the hands will not only improve their appearance but also significantly enhance the skin's condition in the treated areas.
Nourish and moisturize
Nourishing and moisturizing are, contrary to appearances, two distinct yet perfectly complementary features of a hyaluronic acid mask. The hyaluronic acid in it perfectly moisturizes the skin, contributing to an improvement in skin condition, while macadamia oil completes the process by creating an occlusion. Macadamia oil also exhibits beneficial properties such as alleviating skin irritations, anti-aging, and antioxidant effects.
Occlusion, occlusion!
I mention it when writing about macadamia oil, but what exactly is it? Occlusion prevents the evaporation of active ingredients from the skin's surface. It promotes better absorption of products into our skin and enhances the final effect of skincare treatments. There's nothing better than 20 minutes of relaxation with a candle, music, or meditation, combined with a quick and incredibly effective treatment from Handy Lab.
